From RAF Manston to Red Dwarf — Our Convention Adventures Continue Through 2026

2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for us, and we wanted to share some of the latest news, events, and community projects we’ve been working on.

🌊 Herne Bay Comic-Con

We recently attended the one-day Herne Bay Comic-Con, where we showcased our fantasy miniatures, detailed busts, custom dice towers, Gachapon machine, and dragon-themed can holders.

While our gazebo location was a little quieter than some of the main indoor areas, it still turned into a really enjoyable event thanks to the people around us and the conversations throughout the day.

One of the highlights was being placed next to the team from Dice and Destiny, including Darius, his daughter Jess, and Andrew. Darius also runs the Canterbury Gaming Convention, so it was great spending the event alongside people who are equally passionate about growing the local tabletop and hobby community.

Even smaller or quieter conventions can still create great memories, community connections, and opportunities to share the hobby with new people.

🚀 Maidstone Comic-Con

After Herne Bay, we attended the one-day Maidstone Comic-Con and had an amazing time meeting fellow hobbyists, collectors, painters, and gaming fans.

Bringing back our Herne Bay setup, it was fantastic seeing people interact with everything we brought along and discovering new favourites throughout the day.

One of the biggest highlights of the event was meeting Hattie Hayridge, best known for playing Holly in Red Dwarf. She was incredibly friendly and even wanted to take a photo with us at our stall, which was an unforgettable moment for us and made the event even more special.

It was also great seeing our friends from Dinky Drawings, who created the awesome Kraken shirt that has now become my regular convention shirt at events throughout the year.

We’d like to thank everyone who stopped by to chat, support us, and share their passion for tabletop gaming, fantasy, and miniature painting.

🎨 Monument Hobbies Supporting the Canterbury Gaming Convention Painting Competition

We’re incredibly excited to announce that Monument Hobbies will be supporting the miniature painting competition at the Canterbury Gaming Convention.

For miniature painters and hobbyists, Monument Hobbies are well known for their excellent hobby supplies and paints, so having their support for the competition is fantastic news and will help us create an even better experience for the community.

The painting competition is something we’re passionate about growing locally. Whether you’re an experienced painter or completely new to miniature painting, we want the competition to be welcoming, inspiring, and fun for everyone involved.

We’ll be sharing more details about categories, prizes, and entry information closer to the event.

🛩️ Upcoming Event — Comicon At The Museum

We’re also preparing for another exciting event this summer: Comicon At The Museum taking place on the 20th and 21st of June 2026 at RAF Manston History Museum.

During the event, we’ll be running our Miniature Painting Experience using miniatures from Warlord Games. Visitors will have the chance to sit down, paint a miniature, learn new techniques, and enjoy the hobby in a friendly and relaxed environment.

The miniatures available to paint during the event will include:

  • Axis Stahltruppen from Konflikt '47

  • US Fireflies from Konflikt '47

  • US Army Infantry from Bolt Action

The painting experience is perfect for:

  • Complete beginners wanting to try miniature painting for the first time

  • Families and younger hobbyists

  • Experienced painters wanting to enjoy the community atmosphere

  • Anyone interested in tabletop gaming, historical miniatures, or model painting

We’ll also have a selection of miniatures, busts, dice towers, and other fantasy-themed creations on display throughout the weekend.

👀 Looking Ahead

This year is all about growing the community, attending more conventions, and helping more people discover the miniature painting hobby. From comic-cons to gaming conventions and hands-on painting experiences, we’re excited for everything still to come in 2026.

If you’re attending any of these events, make sure to come and say hello — we always enjoy meeting fellow hobbyists and sharing our passion for miniatures and painting.
