Canterbury Gaming Convention 2026 – A Special Weekend for Agitated Kraken

First of all, I want to apologise that it has taken me so long to get this blog post written. Things have been really busy with Agitated Kraken Miniatures, and I’ve also had some health issues to deal with, which unfortunately meant this got pushed back much longer than I wanted. But I finally have the chance to sit down and tell you about what was a really special weekend for me.

A Big Weekend for Agitated Kraken

Canterbury Gaming Convention 2026 was a really important event for me and Agitated Kraken Miniatures. This wasn't just about having a stall — I was running a miniature painting competition, and I really wanted to create something that people would enjoy and remember.

Going into the convention, I was really excited but also a little nervous. It was a big step for Agitated Kraken, and I wasn't completely sure how everything was going to go over the weekend.

We were incredibly lucky to have the support of Warlord Games and The Army Painter, who helped make the competition possible by providing miniatures and fantastic prizes. Their support meant a lot to me, especially as Agitated Kraken Miniatures is still growing.

The Painting Competition

One of my favourite parts of the weekend was seeing everyone getting stuck into their miniatures.

There were some brilliant entries, and I loved seeing how differently everyone approached their models. That's one of the things I love most about miniature painting — you can give several people the same miniature and end up with completely different results.

It was also great seeing people who were perhaps newer to painting getting involved alongside more experienced painters. For me, the competition wasn't just about winning; it was about giving people an opportunity to have a go, enjoy the hobby and show off what they could create.

After seeing all the fantastic entries, it was Andrew Nash who took home the win in the miniature painting competition. Congratulations to Andrew, and a huge thank you to everyone who entered and helped make the competition such a great part of the weekend.

Meeting Fellow Hobbyists

The convention also gave me the chance to meet lots of new people, chat with fellow hobbyists and make some great connections for future events.

We took plenty of photos throughout the weekend, with permission from the participants, so we could share the experience with everyone involved and with the companies that supported us.

It was brilliant seeing the event come together after all the planning that had gone into it.

Looking Back

Looking back now, Canterbury Gaming Convention 2026 feels like a really important part of the Agitated Kraken journey.

What started as a small idea has grown into something that allows me to meet people, support the miniature painting community and hopefully give people some fun experiences along the way.

I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, everyone who came over to see us, and especially Warlord Games and The Army Painter for supporting the competition.

Canterbury has definitely given me the confidence to start looking towards even bigger events and more miniature painting competitions in the future.

What's Next?

For the rest of 2026, we currently only have one more event booked, so there's a good chance Canterbury Gaming Convention will be our last big event of the year. Although we may not be at as many events as we'd like for the remainder of the year, we're already looking ahead to 2027 and planning some exciting things.

Next year is already looking like it could be a much bigger year for Agitated Kraken Miniatures, with more events and miniature painting competitions on the horizon.

This is just the beginning of the journey.
